Yeo Valley Family Farms are family-owned and proud of it. In 1961 founders, Roger and Mary Mead, bought Holt Farm and started making yogurt in 1971. Our first organic yogurt was produced 20 years later, making Yeo Valley one of the best known organic brands in Britain. We are still owned by the Mead family and Roger and Mary’s son Tim took the reins in 1990. Through our sustainable farming methods and commitment to supporting other British family businesses, we aim to be here forever.
On our farms we go above and beyond just being organic. Our yogurt is made using milk from our own family farm and OMSCo, the South West based Organic Milk Supplier’s Cooperative. We support other British family farms by sourcing our organic fruit from here in Britain wherever possible; preserving the countryside by supporting other farmers who work in a sustainable and environmentally sensitive way. We think that our farmers grow the best produce around; helping our dairy products taste great.
We work closely with Farmlink to enable School children to use our farm to learn about food and farming. We have even built a class room on one of our farms to facilitate this because we believe that children are our future.
With an eye on the future, we use technology to help us to become even more sustainable. We heat our head offices with a boiler that uses elephant grass grown on one of our farms, and we have installed an acre of photovoltaics on to the roof of one of our cow sheds to help power our Blagdon dairy. Inside our dairies, and across all our sites, we operate a continuous improvement policy. This ensures that all staff are able to suggest ideas to reduce consumption of resources like water and electricity as well as cutting down on any food or packaging waste. Our implementation of this policy is now being used to help other businesses learn to be more efficient, while we continue to improve.
Our business vision is simple; to deliver great taste the right way.
