It’s with great pleasure that we have joined with the Western Daily Press once again to celebrate the Food and Farming industry in the South West. The Food and Farming awards cover all the things that we at Thatchers hold dear from farming and food production through to how and where our food and drink is sold.
We’re a farming family with a long-standing passion for making cider, which started four generations ago when William Thatcher began producing cider from apples he grew here on his mixed farm in Sandford. That cider was given to his workers as part of their wages, but soon demand grew within the surrounding villages, and so the business of making Thatchers cider was born.
Today Thatchers combines generations of experience with modern technology, resulting in authentic Somerset ciders that are consistently full of flavour and distinct apple character. Pride in our heritage is at the heart of everything we do, and our knowledge and passion for apples is reflected in our ciders. Our range includes Thatchers Gold, Thatchers Haze, Thatchers Katy and Thatchers Vintage.
The West Country remains our heartland. Our ciders feel at home in many pubs and bars throughout the region, which is why we are very pleased to sponsor the Best Pub category of these awards.
Running a great pub takes dedication, inspiration and a lot of hard work, and we salute all those publicans who put their heart and soul into running successful businesses which add so much to the character of the West Country.
The region has developed a strength in agriculture and food production, and we are proud to be a part of this community. By supporting these awards we are helping celebrate all that’s great about food and farming in the south-west and those who help create it.
